A small group that works slowly through the Pali discourses in English translation. We read a passage aloud, then talk about it. Sessions are discussion-led, and disagreement is welcome — it is usually the most useful part of the evening.
What we read
Mostly the Majjhima and Samyutta collections, chosen a few months at a time. Texts are provided, so there is nothing to buy and nothing to prepare in advance.
Who it suits
People who want to understand what the tradition actually says, rather than what it is assumed to say. No background in Pali or Buddhist studies is needed. Newcomers can join at any point — we are not building towards an exam.
